Sinopsis

Adolf Dietrich und Otto Dix fanden als Vertreter der Neuen Sachlichkeit zum Erfolg. So verschieden ihr künstlerisches Werk erscheint, so nahe sind sie sich als Vertreter dieser Strömung. Ihre Berührungspunkte finden sich bei Galeristen und Künstlerfreunden, in Museumssammlungen und Gruppenausstellungen. Nachdem die Nationalsozialisten Dix 1933 von seiner Professur an der Kunstakademie Dresden entfernt hatten, ließ er sich nahe der Schweizer Grenze zuerst auf Schloss Randegg, ab 1936 in Hemmenhofen nieder. Durch den Untersee getrennt, lebten er und Dietrich nun in direkter räumlicher Nähe. In den Landschaften der Bodenseegegend fanden die beiden Künstler ihre Motive. Ob sich Dix und Dietrich je besucht haben, ist nicht bekannt, wahrgenommen haben sie sich. So treffen sie in dieser Publikation erstmals aufeinander.
