El catálogo “Diego Rivera. Palabras ilustres” es fruto de la exposición del mismo nombre en el Museo Estudio Diego Rivera, dedicada a ofrecer un recorrido visual de las reflexiones de Rivera en torno al arte.
Presenta la conjunción de una selección de textos y citas de Rivera y las imágenes hechas por el propio Rivera o por los artistas que de un modo u otro tuvieron un lugar en su memoria. Palabras que ilustran, ilustraciones que hablan, estas páginas nos enfrentan a momentos de la historia del arte en la visión de un gran creador.
Diego Rivera, además de las dotes excepcionales que lo caracterizaron como pintor, fue poseedor de una sólida formación humanística que sirvió de sustento a sus vastas reflexiones intelectuales. Mientras se hallaba en los andamios, ejecutando algún mural, frente a los lienzos o reclinado sobre una libreta, esbozando algún dibujo, Rivera se ejercitó en profundas meditaciones sobre el arte y los complejos vericuetos de su evolución a lo largo de la historia, y también reflexionó sobre los deberes del creador, ya fuera frente a la sociedad o ante el devenir de la propia disciplina.
