Las cenas opulentas que organizaban Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) y Gala (1894-1982), su mujer y musa, fueron legendarias. Afortunadamente para nosotros, Dalí publicó un libro de cocina en 1973, Les dîners de Gala, que desvela algunos de aquellos ingredientes sensuales, imaginativos y exóticos que confluían en tan célebres encuentros.

Esta reedición abreviada agrupa 78 de sus recetas en 12 capítulos, ilustrados especialmente por Dalí y organizados en función de los distintos platos, así como una sección dedicada a los afrodisíacos. Las ilustraciones y las recetas se acompañan de las extravagantes reflexiones de Dalí cual asuntos tratados en las conversaciones durante las cenas: "La mandíbula es nuestra mejor herramienta para aferrarnos al conocimiento filosófico".

Todas las valiosas recetas del libro pueden prepararse en casa, aunque en algunos casos se requiera buena mano en la cocina y una despensa bien surtida. Son platos de la vieja escuela, con especialidades de los mejores chefs franceses de restaurantes de París condecorados con estrellas Michelin.
